ACC was represented by thirty-eight of its singers who participated in the 2007 Children in Harmony Choir Festival at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Thirty-three
ACC singers participated in the 2005 Prague Children’s Music Festival
and performed in historical venues in Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg. ACC
worked with an internationally-known clinician (Joan Gregoryk) on an
extremely challenging repertoire, sang mass concerts with other children’s
choirs, and performed individual concerts in concert halls and
cathedrals (including Saint Stephens Cathedral in Vienna and Saint Vitus
Cathedral in Prague).
ACC’s
entourage of 64 visited some of Europe’s outstanding sites in the
heart of music history, enriching cultural knowledge and comprehension
and returning to Augusta with contagious enthusiasm for promoting
cultural and educational values in the Augusta area.
In 2004, ACC
sang for Congressional spouses at The Capitol Hill Club in Washington,
DC. In 2003, Augusta Children’s Chorale traveled to Music City USA
(Nashville, Tennessee) to learn more about the recording industry and
its history in Nashville.
In 2002, ACC
joined seven other choirs from across the nation to study with
clinicians at Brigham Young University--Hawaii and to study ethnic
choral literature from the Pacific Rim countries. ACC learned native
musical instruments and dance during cultural instructions at the
Polynesian Cultural Center, worked with native choirs, performed
individually and en mass, and worked with well-known area artists. These
tours yield cultural enrichment that builds universal understanding of
music as it affects our nation and the world.
